Caregiver information

At CDCC, we believe in the central importance of caregivers role in the lives of the children and invite caregivers to enter a unique partnership with their child’s RECEs and support staff in our centre.

In fostering partnerships with caregivers, CDCC aims to fulfill its mission to provide high-quality, supportive, family-centered, educational childcare for children. To provide the highest possible quality care, our program must be tailored to meet the needs of each individual child and be as consistent as possible with their lives at home. To achieve high quality care, partnerships between CDCC employees and families are based on two-way communication and the mutual sharing of information about the child. All forms of communication are encouraged to ensure that parents provide RECEs and support staff with essential information about their child.

CDCC also gives caregivers information on their child’s progress and offers resources to support their family needs.

CDCC employees will listen to caregiver and do their best to incorporate their suggestions and concerns into our program. We also strive to respect cultural differences and support newcomers in their transitions to Canada.

At the same time, CDCC has specific expectations in place for caregivers that must be met while children are enrolled within our Centre. Caregivers must also recognize that CDCC is an educational care facility and must meet conditions imposed by the Ministry of Education.

CDCC is in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Algoma District Services Administration Board (ADSAB) to provide funding to reduce fees for caregivers of children under the age of six within the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care System (CWELCC).

In summary, CDCC and caregivers have mutual responsibilities and the mutual goal of providing the best education and care for each individual child.

Claire Dimock Children’s Centre opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Families will comply with their pre-arranged hours/days for childcare. It is expected that children will be picked up and dropped off within a half hour of parents work/schooling hours. Both full time, part time, socialization and summer/holiday care options are available. Consistent attendance is encouraged to get the most of our quality early learning program. Caregivers must advise the centre of any changes in their scheduled days or upcoming absences.

If the primary caregiver is not working or attending school and would like their child  enrolled for socialization, a six-hour scheduled day will be in effect, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The caregiver MUST inform the centre of any changes in address, employment, telephone numbers, emergency contacts, child medical conditions or consents.
